Drive is a hobby project run by one person. It shows no ads, has no trackers on it, and sells nothing to anybody. What it keeps is listed below in full.
You can drive every track without an account. For each request your browser makes, the server writes one row recording the time, the page, the referring page, your browser's user agent string, your IP address, and a random id kept in a cookie so that several page views can be recognised as one visit. That is what tells me whether anybody is playing and which tracks they choose.
Lap times you set without an account are kept in your own browser, not on the server, until you make an account. Clearing your browser data removes them.
An account stores a username, an email address, and a hash of your password — never the password itself. Alongside it Drive keeps what you would expect a racing game to keep: your best lap on each track, a recording of the car's movement during those laps so other players can race your ghost, your rating, your medals, and the car you built in the garage. Your username, your times and your ghosts are public, because a leaderboard is the point of them. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
One account works across Drive, Conductor, Egyptian Rat Screw and King of Tokyo, because they share one accounts system on cgovind.com.
Two, both strictly functional, neither used for advertising:
cgv — a random visitor id, so repeat visits can be counted as one
person rather than as many. Lasts two years.
session — keeps you logged in, or remembers your guest name. Lasts
thirty days.
When Drive is played inside another site that embeds it, both cookies are partitioned: the browser keeps a separate copy for that site, and it cannot be connected to your account here.
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics service, no social network buttons, no data sold or shared with anybody. Nothing is collected beyond what is written above, and none of it leaves the one server this runs on.
